ROBERT FRANK BATES (published on May 23, 2009)

ROBERT FRANK BATES 1935 - 2009 Peacefully, with his family at his side, Bob passed away on May 18, 2009. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ethel Bates of Hamiota, formerly of Oak River. Bob will be lovingly remembered by sons Gordon (Brenda), Dale, Ross (Shelley) and daughter Connie; grandchildren Ryan, Cody, Keri, Ashley and Rachel; sisters Dorothy and Lorraine and brother-in-law Earl and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Hamiota on August 26, 1935, and was raised on the family farm, receiving his education at Oakner, Manitoba. Bob joined the Bank of Montreal in 1955 and spent the next few years at various branches in Saskatchewan before returning home in 1964. Bob worked for the Municipality of Langford for twenty five years until his retirement. Bob's greatest pleasures, besides family and grandchildren, were hunting, trapping and enjoying nature. Bob thoroughly enjoyed combining his family and love of the outdoors with fishing and camping trips with his children during their youth. Bob also enjoyed his ball games, ponies, and coffee with his buddies, laughing and making the memories that one never forgets. Bob's kind, generous nature and sense of humour will never be forgotten. Bob's life touched many people and those lucky enough to enjoy his friendship will share in the tremendous loss his family feels now. We will all cherish our memories. Funeral service took place at The Neepawa First Baptist Church on May 23, 2009. Interment followed in the Riverside Cemetery Neepawa, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be greatly appreciated. White's Funeral Home Neepawa Carberry in care of arrangements.
