ROBERT (BOB) WILMONT LOCKIE (published on May 23, 2009)

ROBERT (BOB) WILMONT LOCKIE With deep sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Bob Lockie at his home on May 14, 2009. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Catherine (nee MacKay), his son Rob, daughter-in-law Bev, grandchildren Jonathan and Christina, brother Jim (Jeanette), as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents Jim Lockie in 1976, and Edna (nee McKinley), in 1986. Bob was born on September 17, 1933 in Winnipeg, where he lived all his life. He met his wife, Cathy, in Thunder Bay in 1960 and they married in 1962. Their only child, Rob, arrived in 1965. From the early 1970's until retirement in 1992 Bob worked in the tourism industry, serving the last number of years as Director of Operations at Tourism Winnipeg. Bob most enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Laclu, Ontario. His mother purchased an old log cabin on two lots in 1943 on Indian Island. He spent many summers there while growing up. In 1980, with his mother and brother's blessing, one of the lots was used to build his and Cathy's new cottage. Many years of hard work, fun, relaxation and fishing followed. Even in later years, he still looked forward to getting down and opening up after ice-out (which he did the weekend before he died), as well as his annual fishing trip in June with Rob. Dad was always a devoted husband and father. His family was foremost in his life, especially his two beloved grandchildren. There were always Smarties to be had, and maybe a toy car, when Grampa came over for a visit. We'll all miss you, Grampa. A private family service has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB. Thomson In the ParK 925-1120
