DAVID KRAHN (published on June 09, 2009)

DAVID KRAHN On Saturday, June 6, 2009, David Krahn went to be with his Lord and Saviour. He was 79 years old. David was born to David and Maria Krahn on August 19, 1929, in the village of Neuendorf, Ukraine. He was the second oldest of six children. During the Second World War, the family had to flee their home. In 1948 they immigrated to Canada. They settled in Coaldale, Alberta. In 1949, David was baptized on the confession of his faith in the Coaldale Mennonite Church. In 1957, he moved to Winnipeg with other family members. He pursued further studies at the U of M which he enjoyed. He spent many years working in the Parks Department, for the City of Winnipeg. He enjoyed working outside, until his retirement. He was well loved by his extended family, both young and old, and considered a great grandpa to the youngest. He was a thoughtful man who cared for those around him through an encouraging word, a smile, or a kind card. He also regularly called friends and family who lived outside of Manitoba. He will be missed. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister in infancy. He is survived by Mary Klassen (Jake), Jake Krahn (Rita), Henry Krahn (Trudy), and Anne Peters (Ferdinand) as well as, many nephews, nieces, and their families; one uncle and aunt, Henry and Doris Siemens, and two aunts - Tina Willms and Margaret Lott, and many cousins. The funeral service will be held at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St., Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., with interment in Elmwood Cemetery. Viewing prior to service.
