DONALD ARTHUR MCCOMBER (published on June 13, 2009)

DONALD ARTHUR MCCOMBER November 2, 1928 June 10, 2009 With regret and heavy hearts, Don's family announces his passing on June 10, 2009 at Deer Lodge Hospital. Don was heroic and courageous in his long battle, and he left us the way he lived - with dignity and courage. He was a soldier (sergeant RCHA), a proud Canadian peacekeeper, an RCMP officer, and a sportsman. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan (Gordon) in October 2008, his parents Jennie Mae and Wallace McComber, and by numerous siblings, in-laws and relatives. Left to remember him is his wife of 58 years, Catherine, his sons David, Dana (Brenda), his daughter Jennifer, his sister Jane, his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and many friends. Don was born in Port Arthur, Ontario and was a popular mayor of Teentown. He loved his beautiful Catherine, his family, his Jets and Bombers. He loved sailing the west coast of British Columbia, fishing and kicking butt at crib. Donald Arthur McComber will be remembered in the highest regard. He was loved and admired greatly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His terrific sense of humor stayed with him through adversity. I've been sick, ya know He will be forever remembered and loved by his family and missed even more. The family would like to thank the family of staff of 4W at Deer Lodge Hospital for their compassion, grace and care of Don through the most difficult part of his journey. There will be no service at Don's request. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory can be made to Deer Lodge Foundation, Winnipeg MB.
