NICHOLAS DAWYBIDA (published on June 13, 2009)



NICHOLAS DAWYBIDA November 24, 1916 - June 11, 2009 Peacefully on June 11, Nicholas passed away at the Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 92. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Jo-Anne (Don) Skerritt and granddaughter Jennifer. Son Richard (Gail), grandson Mark and granddaughter Rachelle (friend Hugh Delorme). Sister-in-law Jean Jarema and brother-in-law Steve Danchuk, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Nick was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Stella; parents, John and Tekla; sisters, Olga and Ann (Cumming). Nick was born and raised in the north end of Winnipeg attending King Edward School. He went on to work at Shea's Brewery, later joining MacDonald Brothers in 1943, which later became Bristol Aerospace. He retired in July of 1982 as a Materials Provisioner after 35 years of service. Nick was a founder and longtime member of the Arlington Athletic Club where he enjoyed countless fishing trips. Family was the most important thing to Nick; he spent endless hours caring for his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. The family would like to express special thanks to Home Care nurses, Karen and Theresa, and Home Care provider Eddie for the care and concern they provided. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Nicholas' memory to The Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation Inc., 2300 McPhillips Street, Winnipeg, MB R2V 3M3. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Nicholas' life will be held on Monday evening June 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
