EILEEN TESSLER (published on June 13, 2009)



EILEEN TESSLER On Wednesday, June 3, 2009, after a lengthy illness, Eileen Tessler (nee Goldberg) passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre at age 84. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Barry Tessler and her brother Stanley Goldberg. Eileen is survived by her children Reeva (Earl) Parker, Karen Tessler, Michael (Rachel) Tessler and Judy Tessler, her grandchildren Jill, Sean and Brian Parker, Maegan and Caitlin Tessler, and Jocelyn and Ian Faintuck, her brother and sister-in-law Percy and Elaine Goldberg, her sister and brother-in-law Adele and Sid Standil and their families. Eileen was born in Winnipeg in 1925 and spent much of her childhood in Altona. She always spoke warmly of her childhood years there. Eileen attended high school in Winnipeg and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Home Economics specializing as a dietician. In 1950 Eileen and Barry married at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue where they became lifetime members. Eileen and Barry shared an active and joyful life filled with a close-knit family, long standing friendships, travel and many common interests. Eileen relished life. She was warm and engaging, dignified and refined. She was a devoted wife and consummate homemaker. Eileen loved her family unconditionally and is an ever-present role model for her children. Eileen also enjoyed an extraordinary relationship with her siblings which enriched her life. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. Special thanks to Jacqueline Williams, her devoted companion for the past 17 years. Thanks also to the staff in AB 2 and CD 1 at the Riverview.
