CRAIG DUNCAN MACDONALD (published on June 15, 2009)

CRAIG DUNCAN MACDONALD It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Craig Duncan Macdonald on June 11, 2009 at the age of 67. Craig will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Laura O'Neill and her husband Adam; sister-in-law Marley; closest friends, Rod Donlevy, Rick Dalton, Mike and Charlene McMullan, Susan Pickard and Lorna Gray. Craig was predeceased by his wife Constance, brother Graham, and parents Duncan and Irene. Craig was born on August 21, 1941 in Winnipeg at the Grace Hospital. He lived most of his life in Winnipeg, with the exception of two years in Edmonton as a child and five years in Saskatoon from 1988-1993. Craig met his lovely wife, Connie, in 1961, during his first and last attempt at riding a horse. After spending a long day in the saddle he much preferred the art of spectating. Connie and Craig were married in 1968 and welcomed their daughter Laura in 1974. Craig spent most of his career working at Assiniboia Downs Racetrack in Winnipeg. He held several positions there including Race Secretary and Steward. He also traveled throughout Manitoba working on the harness racing circuit. Craig was working up until his passing, and even when not working he could often be found visiting friends or playing cards in the racetrack kitchen. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Craig's life will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Terrace Dining Room at Assiniboia Downs Racetrack, 3975 Portage Avenue. Arrangements will be made to have Craig's ashes join his wife in the trails of the Assiniboine Forest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital.
