MARTHA FOX (published on June 16, 2009)



MARTHA FOX Martha Fox passed away June 14, 2009 at Lion's Personal Care Centre. She is survived by her sister Chris (Tom); brothers Bob and Tom; and by her children Lynn, Bob, Katherine and Pat (Al). She is predeceased by her husband Harry; sisters Ann, Elsie and Jean; and brother Mike. Daughter of Mary and Nicholas Kulbaba, Martha was born May 4, 1922 in a region that is now part of the Ukraine. The family immigrated to Canada in 1928, settling in Winnipeg. Martha attended Norquay School until grade 8, after which she joined the workforce during the Depression. During the Second World War she moved to Toronto. There she worked in a munitions factory where her job was inspecting guns. Following the war, Martha was employed by Eaton's Department Store first in Toronto, then in Winnipeg, where she graced the hat department as a saleswoman. She married Harry Fox on June 6, 1953 in Winnipeg at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. In 1958 Harry and Martha moved to the Fox family farm near Brunkhild to farm and raise their children. They returned to live in Winnipeg in 1984, and in 2005 Martha moved to Lion's Manor to be near Harry in Lion's Personal Care Centre. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba, Unit B-247 Provencher Boulevard, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 0G6.
