LUCILLE JOANNE OUGHTON (published on June 16, 2009)

LUCILLE JOANNE OUGHTON Lucille passed away peacefully with loving family at her side, on Friday June 12, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre. Born July 28, 1924 and at the age of 84, she joins Howdy, her predeceased husband of 47 years. In addition to her husband, Lucille was predeceased by her brothers John, Frank and Joe. She is survived by her one sister Jean. Lucille was born in Ituna, Saskatchewan and after marrying she lived and worked on the Oughton family farm for 51 years. She then moved to Kiwanis On The Red, where she spent her final years overlooking the Red River. Mom enjoyed a long healthy life up until about five months ago when her health gradually started to decline. After Dad died, Mom really never was at peace. For the love of her three children Karen (Lorne Clarke), Brenda (Bill Marshall), Bryan (Heather), two grandchildren Kristin (Mike), Ashley (Ryan) and her grand dogs Daisy, Gizzy and Charlie; she continued to carry on, missing Dad every second of every day. Mom had a strong love for flowers and gardening and definitely had a green thumb, which she thankfully passed on to her children. She would plant a seed and loved to share the resulting produce and flowers. She was also a wonderful cook and was never scared to cut a recipe from the paper that sounded good, waiting for the opportunity to have someone sample the dish and give the 2 thumbs up telling her it's a keeper. She enjoyed baking for her children and there were many family and friends that could not wait for her famous shortbread at Christmas. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the Selkirk homecare workers and the staff at Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care, and her long time friend Ruth. A private family interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
