MYRTLE EVA LOZINSKI (published on July 04, 2009)

MYRTLE EVA LOZINSKI (formerly NICKERSON) (nee STENABAUGH) June 27, 1934 June 26, 2009 Myrtle passed away peacefully in Winnipeg on June 26, 2009 at the age of 74 after a short battle with cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband Mike of 26 years, children Tim (Noreen) and Cindy and three grandchildren Chelsea, Brendan and Jordan. Myrtle is survived by her loving sisters and brothers Lorna, Verna (Ernie), Mabel, Ronnie (Shirley) and Donnie (Heather) and many nieces and nephews. Myrtle was predeceased by her parents Lydia and George Stenabaugh, her sister Fern and brother Lorne. Myrtle was born in Dauphin, June 27, 1934 and lived in St Emilie until the family moved to Dauphin when she was eight years old. She attended the Deaf School in Saskatoon from 1946 to 1951 where she made lifelong friendships. Upon graduation she undertook a career in hairdressing starting in the Melville area and later moved back to Dauphin to start her own successful business. She married her first husband Forrest in 1961 and they settled in Winnipeg where they had two children. In 1978 Myrtle moved back to Dauphin and rekindled past friendships. In 1983 she married Mike whom she had known in her teenage years. Myrtle enjoyed travelling, spending time with family and friends and generally enjoying life. She especially took joy in hosting gatherings, large and small, regardless of the occasion. In 2006 Myrtle and Mike moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Myrtle will be sadly missed and remembered for her generous and giving personality, her humorous views and fun love of life. We would like to extend her thanks and love to all family and friends for the countless visits, calls, messages and support provided throughout her illness which ensured she was never alone. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Victoria Hospital for their care and support and the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at HSC CancerCare. Memorial Service for Myrtle will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Church in Dauphin, MB with Karen Kuzek officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin, MB. Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Myrtle may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
