DANIEL E. WRIGHT (published on July 04, 2009)

DANIEL E. WRIGHT With sadness we announce that Danny Wright, beloved husband of Joan, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Danny was born on April 11, 1920 and lived the majority of his life in the East Kildonan and Morse Place areas of Winnipeg, with the exception of an eight year period from 1966 to 1974 when the family lived in Saskatoon. During the Second World War he served in the RCAF from July 1938 to January 1946 in Squadron 16 of the Southeast Asia Command in Ceylon. Most of his working life was spent in the employ of the Carnation Company (now Nestle Canada) in sales. He also had a lifelong interest in the automotive industry and friends and family always knew he was the man to go to when they were looking for a good used car. For many years he was an active member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, Shriner's Khartum Temple Drum and Bugle Corps. as well as the Imperial Vets Legion. In addition to Joan (nee Hughes) to whom he was married for over 60 years, Danny is survived by his son Greg Wright of Saskatoon, daughter Lois Ridley (Brian) of East St. Paul and son Gordon Wright (Mayumi) of Delta, BC. As well, he had four grandchildren, Eron Wright (Tonya), Kristal Wright-Miller (Dan), Cam Ridley and Danny Wright. Danny was also a great-grandfather to Ava, Emma and Sara Wright and Rachel Miller. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including his very special niece Marj Grevstad, who has been a wonderful source of caring and support to both Danny and Joan over many years. Danny was predeceased by his sisters Muriel Little (Laurie) and Margaret Grevstad (Dale) and his brother Ed Wright (Irene). Throughout their lives this group shared a very close bond. Cremation has taken place and there will be no service, as a private family gathering will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the exceptional staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their care and assistance in ensuring Danny's comfort in the last few months of his life, as well as the Home Care employees who helped Danny prior to his move to Kildonan PCC. No longer in our lives to share, but in our hearts you are always there.
