SARAH KASPER (published on July 04, 2009)

SARAH KASPER On Monday, June 29, 2009 at Donwood Manor, Sarah Kasper passed away at the age of 85. She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth and Mary Kasper, who were able to be with her when she passed away. She is also survived by several cousins and their families. Sarah was born in the Ukraine, December 5, 1923 to Heinrich and Sara Kasper. In 1926 the family came to Canada and settled on a farm in the Manitou area. Here she enjoyed a happy childhood and also received her schooling. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth, was baptized upon her confession of faith and joined the Manitou Mennonite Brethren Church. She attended the Winkler Bible School for one year, and then worked in the Sunday School, with the Young People, and sang in the Choir. As a family, many happy years were spent in Manitou. As there was no brother, she helped Dad with many of the farm chores. In 1960 when Mom and Dad retired, a new life began. She worked for many years in the sewing industry until she retired. In 1984 when her parents both passed away, a new phase of life began. Together with her sisters, she was able to do a lot of travelling. She was able to visit her only aunt from her father's side in the Soviet Union in 1989. In 2005 she broke her hip. Following a second hip surgery in August of that year, her health deteriorated. In September 2006 she was able to move into Donwood. Here she received kind and loving care from the staff until she passed away peacefully on June 29. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. If friends desire, donations may be made to Family Life Network, 225 Riverton Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2L 0N1
