EDWARD BRUCE CAMPBELL (published on July 04, 2009)

EDWARD BRUCE CAMPBELL December 15, 1917 - July 2, 2009 With our deepest sadness and great sorrow the family of Edward Bruce Campbell announces his passing on July 2, 2009 at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon, Manitoba at the age of 91. His memory is cherished by his children Laraine (William) Bernie, Lorne (Brenda), Lyall (Marina), LaVerne (Ed) Pue, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sister Marie Palen and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Christina (Mina) in 2007 after 63 years of marriage and his sister Esther in 2009. Edward, known to everyone as Bruce , was born in Teulon on December 15, 1917. He farmed the family farm, served in the Air Force, worked for Nelson River Construction and for 12 years worked as a welder for Kilberry Industries where he faithfully drove countless passengers back and forth to Winnipeg daily. In 1950 after selling the homestead he moved his family into their new home on the outskirts of Teulon where they resided for 53 years. During these years Dad and Mom took pride in their achievement of an award winning yard. In 2003, our family home was sold and Dad and Mom moved into Gateway Manor. Dad was a kind gentle man who loved to help others. He knew everyone in Teulon by name and would always tell stories about the past years. Dad loved to drive and looked forward to his two week vacation with the family. In the last few years you would always see Dad walking into town rain or shine or 30 below to pick up his mail at the post office. He was very involved in many community activities and he will always be remembered by those who knew him. We know he is in a safe place with the Lord. The family would like to thank the members of St. Peter's Lutheran church for their ongoing support and kindness to Dad through the years. Special thanks to the staff and home care workers of Gateway Manor where Dad greatly enjoyed the last years of his life. We also want to thank Drs. Pillay and Louden and the staff at the Teulon Memorial Hospital for their care and support in Dad's final days. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre. Reception to follow the service. A private family interment will take place. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to be made to a charity of their choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements
