MARINA LILY EDITH CHAPEL (nee LESTER) July 22, 1935 July 6, 2009 (Change in time of service) Suddenly on the morning of July 6, 2009, Marina passed away at home with her husband Jim at her side. Marina is going to be missed by her husband Jim; son Ben (Nancy); and grandchildren, Madison, Aidan and Riley. She also leaves behind her brothers, Glenn (Betty), Lorne (Anne); brother-in-law Donnie (Diana); sisters-in-law Beverly (Wayne) and Cathy (Jeff) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father Rex; mother Lillie, her stepbrother Bert and her stepsisters Verna and Ellen. Marina grew up in Victoria Beach, attended college in Winnipeg to obtain her teaching degree and returned to Victoria Beach to pursue an early career as a school teacher. She and Jim then saw the start and progression of a mink ranch on their property as they raised their son Ben (Benjamin). When she and Jim dissolved the mink ranch, Marina and her son got involved in refuse management for the municipality of Victoria Beach. Marina carried on with this through 2007. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael's Church in Victoria Beach at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10 with viewing from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. The service will be presided over by Pastor Alex Cross. The pallbearers will be Glenn Lester Jr., Todd and Jason Chapel, Wayne Mackelson Jr., Brian Glowacki and Patrick Lee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Marina Chapel to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. The family would especially like to thank the Victoria Beach First Responders for their quick response as well as the Victoria Beach Municipality Police. Thanks also to the Pine Falls Hospital Staff.
