MORAG ANN CHRISTINE JOHNS (published on July 09, 2009)

MORAG ANN CHRISTINE JOHNS (nee MACGREGOR) It is with heavy hearts the family of Morag Johns announces her peaceful passing with her family by her side on July 6, 2009 at the Grace Hospital. Morag was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in September 2008 and her daughter Caitlin in 2002. Left to cherish her memory are Morag's sons Greg and Jeffrey, daughters-in-law Josi and Janelle, and son-in-law Scott. Also missing their Nonny are those who were the most precious apples of her eyes, grandsons Caelum, Gabriel, Matthew, Emmett and Alexander. Morag will also be missed by extended family members and special friends. Morag was born to Magistrate William and Mrs. Mary MacGregor in Pembroke, Ontario on November 6, 1939, the youngest of three children. Growing up Morag, with her blonde hair and blue eyes, was the beauty queen of the town and was crowned Miss Pembroke of 1958. After graduating high school, Morag headed east to the University of New Brunswick where she collected her degree and the love of her life, Bill. After graduation, Morag and Bill were married on September 11, 1965 in Pembroke. After honeymooning in the Bahamas, the happy couple settled in Toronto, where Caitlin was born. After a brief stop in Edmonton, it was off to Saskatoon where Greg came along, then finally to Winnipeg where Jeffrey made his appearance and the family settled. Morag was a woman of great intellect and, after her children reached school age, Morag went to work teaching English as a second language. Teaching was a career Morag found great joy and fulfillment in until her retirement in 2008. Morag was known for her enjoyment of crosswords which kept her mind sharp and, recently, provided needed distraction through difficult times. Morag's epicurean skills were heartily enjoyed by her family, particularly on Sundays, where she and Bill welcomed the entire family for dinner. To Morag, the laughter of her grandsons and the sounds of their small feet running through the house (although not too fast ) were the greatest sounds in the world. Truly, her love for her children and grandchildren surpassed all things. Morag provided to her family a warm home, and a world, full of culture and love. She was a sophisticated and beautiful woman who will be greatly missed. Warm thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Grace Hospital 4S wing, with a special thanks to Dr. Reynolds who showed such compassion. The family appreciates the exceptional care you gave to Morag during her short visit with you. The family, on Morag's behalf, would also like to thank the caring and loving friends and family who came to visit her while she was ill. She loved you all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Morag's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4A6. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with interment to follow. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
