WARREN COOPER REMPLE (published on July 07, 2009)

WARREN COOPER REMPLE (REMPS) July 1, 1953 - July 1, 2009 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend, Warren Cooper Remple (Remps). With courage, dignity and a brave spirit which were the essence of Warren, he passed away after a five year battle with cancer. He gave it his all and left us on his terms which were to have his loving wife Janice, and beloved sister Dale at his bedside and on his birthday, July 1, 2009. He was predeceased by his parents Abe and Lily Remple. Left to cherish his memory are his wife and best friend Jan, his sister Dale (Russ) McLelland, sisters-in-law Pat and Debbie (Ian), brothers-in-law Dennis (Lois), and Johnny (Jackie) Pallister. Also mourning his loss are nephews Cameron McLelland and Harrison Pallister, nieces Amber (Bryan) Natusch, Courtney McLelland, and great-niece Addie McLelland, Aunts Bella and Louise Dee and numerous cousins, friends and his pet boxers, Zeke, Bella and Lily. Warren grew up in Charleswood. He graduated from St. Paul's High School Class of '71, and Red River Community College, Business Administration 1975 and started his career as an Advertising Sales Rep for the Winnipeg Free Press, a career that spanned over three decades. Warren was an accomplished athlete excelling in both hockey and baseball. He played with the 1972/73 Portage Terriers winning the Centennial Cup Canadian Championship. This team was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. Warren was an incredible person, a natural leader, always providing encouragement with a comedic twist. His common sense, strength of character, and fierce loyalty to friends along with a gifted sense of humour were evident throughout his life. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the many friends and neighbours for their numerous acts of kindness during this difficult journey. Warren and Jan were very appreciative of the superb and compassionate medical care lead by Dr. Gary Harding and his nurse Cindy Pearce and all the CancerCare MB and Riverview Health Centre Staff. Special thanks to Nurse Arlene who was instrumental in ensuring that the end of Warren's journey was dignified for both himself and his family. Warren had many kind and caring friends who helped us along the way but special thanks go out to buddies, Brian, Lyle, Ken and Grant. A private graveside service and interment has taken place. Warren's greatest passions were his family, friends, dogs, Harley Davidson and a good side splitter story. In keeping with that theme a celebration of Warren's life will take place Saturday, July 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the big white tent on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Stadium grounds. Casual attire. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Never Alone Foundation, 1465 Maroon Rd., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 0L6.
