ANNIE THOMPSON (published on July 21, 2009)



ANNIE THOMPSON October 19, 1954 - July 19, 2009 After a brief illness, suddenly and peacefully on July 19, 2009 Jesus our precious Master, King and Saviour called our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to Heaven where there is no more sickness and no more pain. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her husband of 32 years, Alvin; her children, Carly (Dennis Cleaver), Chris (Stephanie Sinclair), Rosemary, Neil, her precious grandson Dallas and granddaughter Danielle; brothers Clifford Anderson (Maxine), Andrew Anderson (Charlotte); sisters Grace Anderson, Marlene Murdock (Norman), Jean Courchene (Elmer), Lily Letandre (Gordon), Ruth Woodhouse, Bella Anderson (Max), Rosemary Anderson (Joseph), also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Harriet and Steve Anderson, her brother Charles Anderson, her mother-in-law Dorothy Thompson, brothers-in-law Archie Woodhouse and Romeo Courchene, nephews Greg Ross, Burnell Murdock, Philip Anderson, Darryl Letandre, Floyd and Lloyd Anderson and niece Gloria Lund. Annie attended the BUNTEP Program (Brandon University). She graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1985. Her teaching career spanned over a 24 year period. Annie took great pride in her work and was an avid worker. She taught mainly in First Nations communities: Pinaymootang, Brokenhead, Lake Manitoba, Ebb and Flow, Lake St. Martin and also Yellowquill College in Winnipeg. Annie had a warm and friendly personality and easily made many friends. She worked full time while continuing her education. She graduated along with her husband from the Counseling Certificate Program from the University of Manitoba in 1999. In 2006, she completed her Post Baccalaureate diploma in Special Education from the University of Manitoba. She was very proud of her accomplishments and always encouraged others to continue their education. Active pallbearers will be Chad Anderson, Darrin Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Elliot Letandre, Norman Murdock and Preston Woodhouse. The crossbearer will be Jackie Sinclair. Honourary pallbearers will be Matilda Parisien, Maxine Anderson, Della Halkowich, Della Anderson, Lynn Courchene, Susan Munroe, Mary McKay, Myra Chippeway, Arlene Mousseau, Joanne Mentuck, and all the students and staff she worked with throughout her teaching career. A viewing will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2009 from 7:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. at the Deliverance Centre, 1831 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. A wake service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, MB. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, MB, with Reverend Robert McLean conducting and officiating the services. The family would like to thank all those who came to comfort us during our difficult time, the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, and a special thank you to Dr. Dalling, the Winnipeg Paramedics and Ambulance Services.
