LORNA (JOAN) EZINICKI (published on July 25, 2009)

LORNA (JOAN) EZINICKI October 29, 1931 - July 22, 2009 It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Lorna (Joan) Ezinicki on July 22, 2009 at the age of 77. Mom is survived by her sister Olive, son Greg, daughter Cathy (Ernie) grandchildren Dustin, Aarron, Michael, Danielle, Mercedes, and Branden. Mom was called to Heaven to be joined again with Dad, Stanley, who passed March 2005. Joanie as known by all was truly high on life. She always walked with a bounce in her step and a smile from ear to ear. Mom's blue eyes sparkled with joy and her laugh with a snort was infectious. Mom was a free spirit and always took time to stop and smell the roses. Mom loved life and especially people. Mom would spark up conversations with anyone and everyone. A five minute trip to the store would turn into an hour resulting in many new friendships. Mom had the gift to live life to the fullest and shared that gift with all she touched. The importance of others always came first, she was the true definition of a Mom. Early in life Mom lived in St. Vital, later moving to Elmwood where she met and married Stanley. Together they set routes and raised our family. Mom worked at Eatons, raised the family, then went back to the work force to Woolco and then New Flyer Industries until retirement. Mom had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. Although having no great-grandchildren when asked if she had any, she said yes I have great-grandchildren, they are all great. Mom had a very special bond with Branden as he was the only grandchild to live in Winnipeg. Grandma was Branden's biggest fan attending as many of his hockey and lacrosse games as she could or spending time together just going out for lunch. Branden is very fortunate to have shared this closeness with his grandparents filled only with love and memories. When Dad passed Mom sold the house and moved into Amber Meadow where she lived the life of luxury. She enjoyed dancing, bingo, not having to cook, not doing dishes and getting her hair done every week. Mom then moved to her new home at Chez Nous for which she loved and enjoyed again making many more new friends. We especially would like to thank all the staff, attendants and tenants at both Amber Meadow and Chez Nous 2nd Floor for enabling Mom to live life to the fullest, be happy and taking such good care of her. In keeping with Mom's wishes cremation will take place and will be followed with a private family service. Thank you Mom for all you have given us, the love, the joy, the laughs and teaching us the gift to live. We all love you more than words will ever say. I've lost my best friend physically but spiritually Mom I know you are with me forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave. or The Alzheimer's Society. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
