PATRICIA CAROLINE (PAT) BURDETT (published on July 25, 2009)

PATRICIA CAROLINE (PAT) BURDETT (nee CHARTRAND) November 5, 1936 July 22, 2009 It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister after a short but courageous battle with cancer Mom passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on July 22, 2009. Mom was born on November 5, 1936 at Eriksdale, Manitoba. She lived in the Minniwaken District most of her younger years, until her family moved to Lundar where she lived until meeting Dad (Charlie), the love of her life. She referred to Dad as her soul mate and together they farmed at Clarkleigh and raised their five children. Mom worked as a health care aide in the Lundar and Eriksdale Care Homes, where she made long lasting friendships. Later on, along with dad, mom enjoyed the opportunity to work in northern Manitoba fishing lodges. Mom's life was all about family. She loved spending time with all her family, whether it was a small get together or a large one. She knew and was always interested in what her children and grandchildren were doing as well as most of her nieces and nephews. Mom loved playing cards or yahtzee and was always up for a game when she had visitors. A card party with friends was a time she looked forward to. She found enjoyment in driving and the freedom that it gave her. Road trips were a favorite pastime for her and she was always ready for one, no questions asked. In recent years, mom learned how to use the computer and her world of games grew. In earlier years she loved hunting, trapping, gardening and working with her husband in the hayfield. She looked forward to her family visiting on the weekends. Her kitchen had an abundance of food, homemade bread, lots of baked sweets and lots of laughs. Mom had many talents including knitting, sewing, and the odd carpentry job just to name a few. In more recent years she enjoyed to go and throw a few , either at the casino or local establishments. She just received her passport. Mom and Auntie Edna were planning a little trip south. Pat was predeceased by her husband Charlie in 2004, her parents Etienne and Carrie Chartrand, sisters Lucy and Janita, brothers Jim, Alex, nephews Alec Monkman and Rick Chartrand, her mother and father in law Bert and Grace Burdett, brothers in law Frank, Jack, Ted, Dave, Joe, Jim and Stan, and a sister-in-law Francis. Left with a lifetime of memories and sadly missing her are her children Garry (Marcella), David (Carol), Patsy (Syd), Danny (Laura) and Don (Patty); her grandchildren Janelle, Graham (Tanya), Shona (Julien), Jeff (Colleen), Jennifer, Taylor, Jordan, Natasha (Dan), Ryan, Tegan, Donny and Devon; also two great-grandchildren Dystinee and baby Katia. Also surviving Patsy who loved her dearly is her sister Gertie Stinson (Al); brother Mike; a sister-in-law Nora Chartrand; special sisters-in-law Edna and Rose Burdett, Louise (Eddy) Sigurdson, Flo; brothers-in-law Fred Burdett, Ken (Agatha) Burdett; many nieces and nephews; but her most loved companions were Lady and Kat. Also grieving mom's passing are nieces Diane (John) Malcolm, Donna (Rick) Schofield whom she was like a second mother to and had a very special relationship with. At mom's request cremation has taken place and a prayer service will be held at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Lundar. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Minniwaken Cemetery with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Urn bearer for Pat that day will be her sister Gertie Stinson. Honourary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren Graham, Jeff, Ryan, Jordan, Donny and Devon, Janelle, Shona, Natasha, Taylor, Jennifer, Tegan, and great-granddaughters Dystinee and Katia. We'd like to thank the following people for the special care they gave mom. The Lundar Homecare staff Brenda, Maritti, Helen, Ellen, Tannis (those midnight visits were greatly appreciated), Verna, Doris, Cindy and Laurel. Phylis, Rhonda, Sandra; Dr.'s Burnett and Arara and staff at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital who we feel went above and beyond to provide the very special care she received. To our neighbours and friends, thank you for the food and concern during this difficult time. With everyone's help and support our mother's wish to remain at home was granted. Donations may be made in mom's memory to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593
