ELIZABETH (ANNE) BARR (published on July 25, 2009)

ELIZABETH (ANNE) BARR It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, sister and friend, Anne, on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at the age of 60 years. Anne was born on December 31, 1948 in Moose Jaw, SK to Clare and Vera Weddige. She was predeceased by her parents, her mother-in-law Sheila Barr-Mayhew, and her sister-in-law, Louise Adams. She is survived by her husband, Wayne, her children, Luke (Karlen) and William, her sister, Janet McLellan, her brother, Marvin (Joan), twin brother, Ron (Teena), many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Anne lived in Briercrest, SK. until she pursued undergraduate studies at the U of S in Saskatoon, then continued her education at U of M in Winnipeg, receiving her masters degree in social work in 1971. Anne and Wayne were married in 1971. They lived in Montreal and in Winnipeg, where their two sons were born. Anne worked for many years at the Family Centre of Winnipeg where she gained many friends and influenced many lives. Anne's interests varied and groups to which she belonged include: Prairie Pathfinders, Resource Conservation of Manitoba, The Council of Canadian's, Amnesty International, and many environmental groups. She enjoyed her association with friends in The Book Group, Mother's Group and the Non-Unit 5 women's group. Anne loved the outdoors and nature. Her major commitment was the parenting of, and friendship with, her two sons, Luke and Will. A service to remember Anne's life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Fred Douglas Place, 333 Vaughan St. in the reception area on the Amenities floor.
