MARION DOROTHY HARDER January 11, 1927 July 22, 2009 Marion passed away at the Baldur Personal Care Home after a long and courageous battle with an extended illness. She was 82 years old. She is survived by her three daughters, Cathie Farrant (Alan), Carol Garry (Andy) and Patricia Townsley; also her three grandchildren, Adam Henwood, Laura Garry and Alexandra Garry. Marion was predeceased by her husband Neil as well as her parents and her two siblings. Marion was the youngest of three children who spent most of her life in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in the 1930's when things were tough for many people. Although times were hard she had the love and benefit of a close and supportive family, in particular her mother Marion Eaton. Marion was a determined and hard working woman who faced adversity with an amazing inner strength. She worked for a brief period of time with the T. Eaton Company and Crane Plumbing Supplies, but most of her career was spent with Wawanesa Life Insurance in Winnipeg. She enjoyed listening to music, singing and especially dancing. During the past five years she has been a resident at the Baldur Personal Care Home. She made many friends there who became her extended family. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held Tuesday, July 28, 11:00 a.m., at Klassen Funeral Home. A private graveside service to follow at Mennonite Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to all the staff at the Baldur Personal Care Home, the volunteers as well as Dr. Sangster. Dr. Sangster's kind and compassionate words were appreciated and will never be forgotten. Also many thanks to Ruth Lockhart for enhancing Mom's life considerably during her time spent in Baldur. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Marion's name to the Salvation Army, 500-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8, or a charity of your choice.
