GIUSEPPE (JOE) MONACO (published on July 27, 2009)



GIUSEPPE (JOE) MONACO February 23, 1937 July 24, 2009 Surrounded by his family, our husband, father, grandfather and brother Giuseppe (Joe) Monaco passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Riverview Health Centre. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Maria (nee Mandarano), a son Frank, daughter Natalina and an infant son Bartolo. He leaves behind his loving wife, Nene DanDan Monaco, children, son Angelo and his children, daughter Maria and her son, daughter Carmela and her children all of Winnipeg, daughter Elizabeth (Scott) and lovely granddaughter Ashley and grandson Tyler of Detroit, son Mike of Winnipeg; a brother Bart (Annette) Monaco and their sons, Dario and Roberto and Bart's son Sean of Winnipeg along with his aunties, cousins, nieces and nephews in Italy, Australia and Canada. Joe was born on February 23, 1937 in Lipari, Sicily and came to Canada in 1959 following his parents Angelo and Maria and younger brother Bart who arrived in 1958. Joe had a successful painting business in Winnipeg for many years. Pallbearers are Tyler Johnson, Dario Monaco, Roberto Monaco, Gil Narcisso, Angel Matias, Chris Villapando Honorary Pallbearers are Neville Shende, Bart Mandarano, Gaetano Infatino, Florentino Moises Sr., Vito Callamare, Frank Callamare, John Lee, John Baunist and Felipe Perez. An extended gratitude and appreciation to those that brought the most comfort, care and compassion to Joe during his illness and in his last days, Dr. J.A Kreml, Dr. David Ross, friends Neville (Stella) Shende, Henny Degzeeuw, Patty Moises, Sonia Narcisso, Flora Landreville all our Filipino friends especially the Amsterdam Kruitberg Group, Father Sam Argenziano and our church friends who assisted at the Mass at Holy Rosary Parish, John Lee and Cheryl DanDan and children Chad and Caitlyn, Wiljane, Gerald and Jennivieve. Prayer Vigil and Lamay will be held on Tuesday July 28, 2009 at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Lamay commences at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at the request of the family. Prayers will be led by Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano at 7:30 p.m. from Mosaic Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holy Angel Mausoleum Green Acres Cemetery, No.1 Hwy. E and Navin Rd. Winnipeg, MB. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Mosaic Reception Centre, 1839 Inkster Blvd. All family and friends are invited to attend.
