RANDY SHIPPAM (published on July 29, 2009)

RANDY SHIPPAM Randy passed away in Chicago, Illinois on July 24, 2009 at the age of 41 years. He will be forever missed by his wife, Roberta and sons Max and Sam; his parents Brian and Geri; brother Scott, wife Nancy and their children Emily and Carter; Grandpa Stan and wife Betty. He will also be dearly missed by everyone in the McLennan and Shippam families and his many, many friends. Randy was born October 11, 1967 in Winnipeg. He attended Robert Browning Elementary, Sansome Junior High and Westwood High School. He owned that school! He completed Broadcasting at Robertson Career College and enjoyed his years on air at CJOB and CKDM (Dauphin). Randy's claim to fame in Dauphin was the Bargain Bin . . . he loved it. It was in Dauphin where he met the love of his life, Roberta. They were married in 1997. He left the on air gig, moving into sales with CKDM and after a brief stint with NCI FM, they moved to Winnipeg. He joined Rogers Communications in radio sales and after some time with Rogers, he convinced his Dad it would be a good idea to hire him (again) to join the family business, Shippam Associates. The sheer force of Randy's personality and talent helped grow the business to become one of the largest promotional firms in Western Canada. Although he left us too soon we are so fortunate that he left us with countless stories and memories to cherish forever. Anyone who met Randy was immediately drawn to his larger than life presence. Randy was truly magic and the funniest man in the room every time. Randy loved golf, loved the Riders and the Bucs. He loved going to the family cottage, fishing and quadding. He loved spending time with his friends . . . but his wife and his sons were his passion, and he made sure we knew it! Randy always said he won the lottery, when in fact, it was us. He was an active member of the Winnipeg business community. He was involved in and had many friends at the Winnipeg Executives Association, an active member at Breezy Bend Golf Club (enjoying the Tuesday night men's night . . . the few times he made it), Facilis Group Canada, The Winter Club (although he didn't go there to work out) and many more business and charitable associations over the years. He touched a lot of lives. In mid-July, Randy spent five days with his Dad on a fly in fishing trip (trip of a lifetime!). He had many trips of a lifetime and many more to come. Donations in Randy's honour may be made to a trust account for his sons Max and Sam. These donations can be made in person at any TD Canada Trust location throughout Canada, payable to Roberta Shippam. A Celebration will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Grant Memorial Church, 877 Wilkes Ave., with a reception to follow at Breezy Bend Country Club, 7620 Roblin Blvd. for refreshments and revelry. Public viewing will take place Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. You can shed tears that he is gone or you can smile because he has lived. RIP...FB Go Riders! CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
