CAROLYNE (CARRIE) GALARNYK (published on August 06, 2009)

CAROLYNE (CARRIE) GALARNYK (nee Korobailo) Peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Holy Family Nursing Home, Carolyne Galarnyk, aged 79 years, passed into the Kingdom of God. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her three devoted sons, Basil (Judy), Nestor (Maria), Mark (Sonya) and two granddaughters, Natalka and Zorianna. She leaves to mourn her loving sister Emily Konopelny and family, as well as brother-in-law Dr. Ihor Galarnyk (Genya) of Plain, Wisconsin, and family. She also leaves behind many relatives and close friends in Canada and the USA. She was predeceased by her husband Nestor in 1998, her parents Peter 1954 and Anna 1974, her brother-in-law Basil Konopelny in 2007 and sister-in-law Nadia Galarnyk in 1940. Our mother was born Carrie Korobailo on November 4, 1929 in Winnipeg, MB. She received her education at Machray School and St. John's High School. She worked as a bookkeeper after completing Grade 12. Mom's life revolved around her community at St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church and Markian Shashkevich Hall, where she met our dad. She married Nestor Galarnyk on March 10, 1956. In the years that followed she gave birth to three sons. In 1963 they purchased V. H. Koman Agency, which later was renamed Galarnyk Insurance Agency Ltd. Mom was dedicated to her clients and would not hesitate to open up the office after hours to help someone. In 1992 she retired from the insurance business to enjoy her leisure years. During her lifetime, Mom enjoyed travelling to various places in North America and abroad. Our mother was a member of St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church, UCWLC St. Joseph Branch and Holy Family Women's Auxiliary League. Our family wishes to extend heart felt thanks to all of our friends for a listening ear and shoulder to cry on. God's blessing to Dr. Terry Babick, for his support in Mom's final years. Thank you to the staff at HSC Renal Health Clinic and the Dialysis Unit. A special thanks goes to the staff at Holy Family Home on the St. Mary Ward. We ask for prayers for the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate for their constant support over the years. God's blessings to our Redemptorist Fathers, especially to Very Rev. Bohdan Lukie C.Ss.R. for their visits and support during these trying times. Parastas will be sung 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 7 at St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8 also at the Church, with Very Rev. Bohdan Lukie C.Ss.R. officiating with interment at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Bishop Velychkovsky Martyr's Shrine, 250 Jefferson Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2V 0M6 or to Holy Family Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 1T9 VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
