ELIZABETH (BETH) JANE GREENLAY (published on August 06, 2009)

ELIZABETH (BETH) JANE GREENLAY (nee WISHART) It is with mixed emotions that we inform you of the passing of our mom, Beth Greenlay. Her courageous fight with cancer has truly been an inspiration to all who knew her. Beth was born November 23, 1935 to Anne (Tisdbury) and Allan Wishart, in Portage la Prairie. She began her schooling in Portage and completed it in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Beth worked in Winnipeg for Air Canada until she married her husband Gard on October 25, 1958. They spent their 50 years of married life on the Greenlay homestead in High Bluff, MB. She has made an impact on so many lives and leaves to mourn, husband Gard, her four children: Kirk, Heather, Cindy (Rob Brown) and Debi (Jerry Arnaud); siblings Kay, Ken (Dorothy), Don (Dot) and Marlene Batke; sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Walter Young), Verna McEwan, her many nieces and nephews and their families, her cousins and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Allan and Ann and her brother Keith and his wife Dorothy. Whether you knew Beth from the Portage Green Farmer's Market, High Bluff UCW, the annual lamb BBQ on the farm, the Christmas Markets, from supporting her kid's sports, from Cousin's lunches/family reunions or from the retirement antique business, we know she had an impact on you. She was very proud of her kids and their accomplishments, small or large. She loved her life on the farm, her flower gardens, her outings with best friend and sister Marlene and had a kindred spirit in her husband Gard. As kids, we all have our own fond memories of growing up, and this in itself is a testament to Mom's treating us all as individuals, understanding our strengths, down playing our weaknesses. Special thanks to the nursing staff of the Portage General Hospital, Debbie Bunnock, Central Plains Cancer Care, Dr. Harris at Grace Cancer Care, Cheryl, Dr. Wolk and Dr. Menzies at Boundry Trails. A celebration of Beth's life will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity United Church 15 Tupper St. S., Portage la Prairie with reception to follow. Interment will be at High Bluff. If friends so desire, contributions to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8 or the High Bluff Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 44 High Bluff, MB R0H 0K0 would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Ronald Moffit Memorial Services, Portage la Prairie, MB. (856-3487)
