BRIAN EDWARD SCOTT March 28, 1936 - June 10, 2009 With love and fond memories we announce the passing of Brian Scott, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend at the age of 73. Born in Winnipeg, Brian was predeceased by his father William (1938), mother Annie (nee Mair) (1998), brother Jack (1944) and sister Margaret Currie (1996) Brian studied Political Science and Law at the University of Manitoba. Won Lieutenant Lawrence Cohen Memorial Scholarship. Received BA in l957 and LLB in l961. Joined Canadian Pacific Railway and was youngest regional counsel ever appointed. Left in 1971 to join City of Calgary as City Solicitor. In l976 joined Fenerty Co. Appointed Queen's Counsel in l986. In l994 was appointed Provincial Court Judge and from l995 to 2007 was Assistant Chief Judge, Civil Division for the Province of Alberta. Brian was Calgary Police Commission Chairman from l982 to 1988. He received Queen's Jubilee Medal and Alberta Centennial Medal for public service. Survived by wife Sheila, sons David (Erika), Kyle (Lynn), Andrew, daughter Kathleen (Doug) and seven grandchildren, niece Barbara Giesbrecht and her son Regan. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, 88 Hespeler Avenue, at 3:00 p.m. August 15, 2009. Arrangements South Calgary Funeral Centre, phone 403 - 297-0711.
