BEATRICE BLUER (published on August 08, 2009)

BEATRICE BLUER (nee HUGHES) July 5, 1919 - August 5, 2009 It is with great sadness, but loving memories, that we announce the sudden passing of Beatrice Bluer (nee Hughes), on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at home. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Harold; parents Thomas and Gertrude Hughes; brother, Wilfred; precious infant grandson, (Wee) Robbie; and dear friend, Jan. Left to cherish her memory are her children Barbara Bluer-Hore (Ronald) and Keith Bluer (Susan); her grandchildren, Scott Hore (Kathi); Cindy Sookermany (Murray); Colin Hore; Shelly Tyler (Todd); Christine Torchia (Angelo); Caroline Amundson (James) and Meaghan Bluer; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Jessica Sookermany (Jeff); Tiana Sookermany (Sean); Rhiannon McConnell-Hore; Bretton Tyler; Kaitlyn and Thomas Torchia; and Jocelyn and Kaelyn Amundson. Also, her sisters, Ruby and May in England and Lilian of Toronto. Beatrice was born July 5, 1919, in Pendleton, Salford, England. She married the love of her life, Harold, on August 10, 1940 and they immigrated to Canada with their family in 1954, settling in Orillia, Ontario. Harold and Beatrice moved to Winnipeg several years ago and settled in Crestview. Beatrice was a confectioner by profession and her family will miss her Nana-cookies and lemon and raspberry tarts at Christmas time. She was an avid sports fan with golf, curling and darts being her favourites to watch on TV. Nana adored being surrounded by her family and greatly enjoyed our reunion held this past July in honour of her 90th birthday. She also enjoyed her time spent with her friends at the Sturgeon Creek Bingo. Nana will always be remembered for her unconditional love, her knowledge of sports and her quiet strength. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 11, 2009 at Neil Bardal Inc., 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, across from Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beatrice's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Manitoba. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ian Maharaj for his special care of Beatrice over the years. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204)949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
