ELIZABETH DUNCAN MORRIS (published on August 08, 2009)

ELIZABETH DUNCAN MORRIS With profound sadness, the family of Beth Morris announce her passing in the early morning hours of August 5, 2009. Beth was predeceased by her husband John; sons Bobby, Willy and Alan; sisters Margaret and Eva; and brother James. Mom leaves a legacy of dry humour and fierce independence to sons John, Barney, Glenn, and Buster; daughter Betty; daughters-in-law Barb, Diane and Debbie; son-in-law Jack; as well as 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She also leaves lifetime friend Ros Webb. Born in Miami, MB, on October 31, 1919 to James and Georgina Ross, Elizabeth Duncan Ross was the youngest of four. At age three, the family moved to Winnipeg and she attended school at Principal Sparling, General Wolfe and graduated from Daniel McIntyre. In her teenage years, she met John Morris. The two married in 1940 and together raised a family of eight. A working mother, she shared her skills and taught generations of people how to sew as an instructor at Elna. She was an accomplished designer, needlewoman and seamstress and sent many a bride down the aisle in style. A dedicated and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her beautiful baby sweaters, boots and bonnets that welcomed each new addition, summer days at Norris Lake, and birthday celebrations every Halloween will always be cherished by the family. The family would like to thank the staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital, Unit 1 - 5th floor for their care, Barb Kirk and Marzenna for support at home, and the kindness and generosity of neighbours Mike and Ruby. Graveside service 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame, Winnipeg. Please meet at the East Gate Administration Office. If desired, donations can be made in Beth's memory in support of breast cancer to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, or The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3. 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
