PHYLLIS CHRISTINE BACZEWICH (published on August 08, 2009)

PHYLLIS CHRISTINE BACZEWICH (nee KOMADOWSKI) November 14, 1954 - August 3, 2009 After a courageous hard fought battle with cancer, it is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of my wife, our mom, grandma and daughter Phyllis on Monday, August 3, 2009. Phyllis will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Don; sons Chris (Debbie), Chad (Ashley), Chase (Candice); grandchildren Christopher, Brook-Lyn, Shyanne; mom Anne Komadowski (Clive); sisters Vicki (Tony), Cece (Louis); sisters-in-law Rita (Dan), Diane (Chris); brother-in-law Jim, several nieces and nephews, as well as many family members and close friends. She was predeceased by her dad Casey Komadowski; grandparents Albert and Ann Komadowski, Nick and Jessie Znack; godmother Phyllis Hertz; father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Alida Baczewich; and sister-in-law Marion Streich. Phyllis was born in Selkirk and raised in East Selkirk where she attended school and made several lifelong friendships. She and Don have been married for 35 years and made St. Andrews home to raise their three sons. Her passion and love was spending time with her grandchildren Christopher, Brook-Lyn and Shyanne who gave her tremendous joy and happiness. Phyllis loved the outdoors, barbequing for family and friends or playing a good game of cards. Since 1999 Phyllis and Don have owned Nicholson's Greenhouse where she enjoyed watching all of her hard work grow into lush beautiful plants, sharing growing tips as well as taking the time to visit with her customers. We will be honouring Phyllis during an evening of remembrance on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Eucharist Parish Hall, 500 Pacific Ave., Selkirk, MB. Following Phyllis' wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be taken to her resting place at a later date. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to the doctors and staff at Selkirk Hospital, Health Sciences, and St. Boniface Hospital, as well as CancerCare Manitoba. Thank you to Debbie and Mel in Selkirk's chemo department for their tender loving care. Thank you to family and friends for all of your visits and support during Phyllis' illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the palliative care unit of the Selkirk General Hospital. Goodbye my family and friends, I loved you all to the very last. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
