HYACINTH EILEEN CHARRAN On Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Misericordia Place Personal Care Home Hyacinth Eileen Charran passed away at the age of 88 years. Hyacinth was born in Wakenaam in Guyana, South America, on April 5, 1921. She was 88 years of age this past April. She was one of the children of Maude Allen and Edgar Mortimer Duke. Her father was a distinguished Guyanese. He was a Lawyer and a Judge and a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, and he was the first Chancellor of the University of Guyana. Hyacinth was a registered nurse in Guyana. She married her husband, Cecil Charran, in August 1964 and they have enjoyed 45 wonderful years together. Hyacinth was always a person with a warm heart and a welcoming smile. She was very kind and very generous. She gave of herself freely to help others. Hyacinth was predeceased by her four brothers: Arnold, Claude, Bruce, and Nigel; and her only sister Edna. She has left in mourning her husband, Cecil, several in-laws and nieces and nephews. The Lord has chosen this time to take her home, and may her soul rest in peace. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. also in Thomson In the Park Funeral Chapel with an interment and reception to follow. Her family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Victoria Hospital and at the Misericordia Place Interim Care facility for the excellent care they gave her.
