SISTER JULIETTE GREGOIRE ( (published on August 11, 2009)

SISTER JULIETTE GREGOIRE (Sister Imra St-Joseph) Fille de la Croix January 22, 1922 - August 7, 2009 With deep sadness, we, les Filles de la Croix, announce the passing of Sister Juliette Grégoire (Irma St-Joseph) at Foyer Valade on August 7, 2009 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Raymond, Ernest, Antonio, Lucien and sisters-in-law Lucille Péloquin, Ann, Aline Gélinas; her sister Liliane and brother-in-law Jean Morin. Sister Juliette leaves to mourn her passing the members of her Religious Order, les Filles de la Croix as well as one sister-in-law Eveline Grégoire and numerous nieces and nephews and many loyal and cherished friends. Sister Juliette was born January 29, 1922 to Albert Grégoire and Irma Baril in St. Jean-Baptiste, Manitoba. Here she spent her early childhood but was soon afflicted by the death of her dear mother. Being the oldest girl, she lovingly and generously took on the care of her siblings. This caring led her to a total giving of her life in the service of the Lord. In 1951, Sister Juliette began her religious formation in St. Boniface and in 1958 pronounced her final vows. Her love of children naturally led her to their care and service. She spent many years teaching kindergarten at La Maison Ste Croix on Archibald Street. In this work she showed much creativity and competence. Her gifts of kindness, love, patience and understanding proved an asset here and elsewhere. Each child was very special to her. Her quiet gentle manner won her many lasting friends. She was compassionate and attentive to everyone she met. During her later years, this spirit continued to inspire her visits to the ill and elderly. We will remember Sister Juliette for her smile, her affectionate nature and her jovial disposition. She loved to laugh, to spend time with her friends. But the highlight of her life was the time she spent in prayer. Her life was a true inspiration for all of us. The family and the Sisters wish to thank the staffs of the Maison Ste Croix and the Foyer Valade for the wonderful care given to Sister Juliette in the last years of her life. Prayers for Sister Juliette Grégoire will be held on Tuesday, August 11 at 8:00 p.m., at the Provincial House of Les Filles de la Croix at 66 Moore Avenue, Winnipeg. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 12 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Father Fernand Desjardins will be presiding. Interment in St. Adolphe, Manitoba, will follow. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.
