HENRY AUSTIN GREEN Peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2009 Henry Green of Marquette, MB passed away at the Stonewall Hospital, with his family by his side. Survived by his children Doris (Everett) Lloyd, Stanley (Judy) Green, Ruth (John) Van Bruggen, David (Lori) Green, Hilda (Ron) Manness, Danny Green; grandchildren Bruce (Jay-Ann), Carol (Jim), Shelly, Patti (Andy), Bryan (Angela), Jo-ann (Rino), Sandy, Margo, Charity, Stacey (Marc); great-grandchildren Kieran, Camryn, Dawn, Tara, Cassidy, Sarah, Megan, Katelyn, Sean, Anna, Joshua, Vittoria, MacKenzie, Bodee, Justin, Kierra; sister Frances (Bert) Bates, Hilda Cousins; sisters-in-law Anne Green, Barbara Beyer and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Josephine, sister Elizabeth and brothers John, Robert and Arthur. Henry was born in England on July 26, 1915 and came to Canada with his family when he was 11 years old. He attended Meadow Lea School and then started helping out on the family farm. He married Josephine Wiltshire and in 1938 they purchased the farm. Henry did a lot of manual labour to get the farm started, from clearing the land with horses to building a log home in which he and Josephine raised their family. Besides grain farming, Henry raised pigs, cattle and chicken. For over 30 years Henry would travel to St. Laurent every Friday to sell the eggs the family had hand washed. To supplement the farm income, Henry sold feed to his neighbours which he made in a mix mill. The majority of his life revolved around his family and the farm where he lived for the past 71 years. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Meadow Lea Hall. The family would like to thank Dr. Venter, the staff of Stonewall Hospital and the home care nurses for their compassionate care. Henry had a special bond with his long time homecare nurse Marie McRae and the family appreciated her friendship with Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stonewall Hospital or a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
