LILY (TEKLA) GOLEBIOSKI (published on August 11, 2009)

LILY (TEKLA) GOLEBIOSKI Sadly we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lily Golebioski, of Cooks Creek, MB, on August 7, 2009 at the Red River Place in Selkirk, at the age of 98. Lily was predeceased by her husband, Andrew in 1996, son Ron in 2008, son-in-law Larry in 1993 and brothers Peter, Mike and Harry. She leaves surviving sons Carl (Marie), Norman (Jean) of Winnipeg and Harold (Joan) of Cooks Creek, daughter Geraldine Grycki of Cooks Creek, daughter-in-law Louise of Kirkness, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was born in Pine Ridge and after her marriage, she and Dad lived on the family farm in Cooks Creek and in later years moved to Selkirk. She was a hardworking person who not only did the household chores and raised five children but was also involved in the running of the farm. Mom enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren, music, going for drives, and in her later years the activities at the Personal Care home. Mom was very creative in everything she did. She had special talents in sewing, baking, knitting, crafts and was often asked to make her special swans for showers. Mom enjoyed gardening and was always trying to grow different kinds of flowers, shrubs and fruit trees. Her favourite saying was shkoda (don't waste or too good to throw out). We will always remember her gentleness, her love for family and her special sense of humour. Prayers will be said on Tuesday (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 12 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church in Cooks Creek with Fr. Charles Fillion officiating. Interment in the Parish Cemetery. Mom's pallbearers will be Andy, Rodney, Jason and Lucas Golebioski, Ryan Hebert and Wes Golembioski. The family would like to thank the staff at Red River Place for the excellent care they gave Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Association of Manitoba or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
