WINIFRED E. (WYNNE) FOGG (published on August 15, 2009)

WINIFRED E. (WYNNE) FOGG (nee BOWERN) Wynne passed peacefully at home on August 10, 2009 following her beloved husband Russ who passed on May 21, 2009. Wynne was born in London, England on November 21, 1919, the only daughter of Gladys and Thomas Bowern. In addition to Russ, she was predeceased by her brother Ted; sisters-in-law Anne, Vi, Irene, Amy, Joan and Dorraine; brothers-in-law Ron, Jim, and Joe; and nephews Gary and Paul. Wynne and Russ met in London, England where they were married on June 22, 1943. They remained in England through the war years. In 1946 Wynne crossed the ocean on the Queen Mary with their two young daughters to join Russ in Winnipeg. The family lived on Union Avenue until 1958 when they moved to Fleming Avenue until retiring in 1977. Upon retirement Wynne and Russ built a new home in Lena, Manitoba. They returned to Winnipeg in 1983 and resided on Henderson Hwy. Wynne was an apprentice in a beauty salon at the beginning of the Second World War when she joined the WRAF. Raising her family was her priority until the early 1960's when she began, and very much enjoyed, working in the nursery at the Misericordia Hospital. Later, as Slating Clerk in the OR, her attention to detail was appreciated by the doctors and staff. Her wonderful flare for fashion and exquisite sense of design was obvious in all the lovely items she created and in her beautiful homes. We remember our matching frilly little girl dresses with much love. Wynne loved to garden, she surrounded her homes with beautiful flower beds and liked to grow strawberries and rhubarb which she made into wonderful pies. She loved to read and shared her love of books with her children. She enjoyed a variety of crafts and was particularly skilled at intricate beadwork which embellished many of her creations. Wynne is survived by her brother Aleck Bowern, England; sister-in-law Grace Bonnett, Winnipeg; brothers-in-law Walter Fogg, Winnipeg and Roy Fogg, Edmonton, AB; daughters and sons-in-law CJ Avison; Chris and Bill Bevan, Winnipeg, Sandy and Gordy Driscoll, Sandy Hook, MB Laurie and Larry Switzer, Medicine Hat, AB; 11 Grandchildren; 27 Great-Grandchildren; and three Great-Great Grand-children; and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the ocean. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Nanny and Friend and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Thank You Mom for spending the last few years taking such good care of Dad. Rest in Peace Mom, we love you - we miss you . As Wynne wished a celebration of her life will be held at her daughter's home on Tuesday, August 18th. Please contact Wheeler Funeral Chapel (204) 224-1525 for details. The family sends a sincere Thank You to Ann and the team of nurses from Palliative Care for their guidance and support, and the staff of Wheeler Funeral Chapel for their considerate care. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba.
