FRANCINE HAZEL JOHNSON (published on August 15, 2009)

FRANCINE HAZEL JOHNSON (nee FORDYCE) Peacefully on July 30, 2009 Francine passed away at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 59. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on January 25, 1950. After growing up in a wonderful home Francine moved to Manitoba at the age of 23 to look for work in Lynn Lake. It was there, while working in payroll at a mine, she met Harvey for the first time. Francine moved to Leaf Rapids in 1974 when the new town was built and there she and her husband started their lives and family together. After taking a few years off to have children, Francine started a career in the airline industry at which she excelled. She worked at a variety of positions and departments, and owned her own travel agency for many years. She retired as a pass bureau coordinator at Calm Air in Thompson after 22 years of service. Francine will be deeply missed by husband Harvey, son Steven (Lucy) and daughters Robin (Lorne) and Lesley (Gerald), and granddaughter Kiara, mother Marjorie, sister Leone (Bill), brothers Robert (Cindy) and Steven (Diane), a great many relatives and countless friends. She was predeceased by her father George Fordyce and sister Valerie Towler. Francine was a loving and elegant woman who was very proud of her family, her friends, and her life. She always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She enjoyed travelling, music, crib and baseball ... go Blue Jays! Francine was an independent, hardworking and dependable woman who will always be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and respect for all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the care Francine received during her stay. A service will be held in Vancouver at Beacher Place on Crescent Beach, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27 and her ashes laid to rest with her father and sister.
