CARMINE GERARDO MARIANI It is with profound sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Carmine Gerardo (Gerry) Mariani on Thursday August 6, 2009 in Muro Lucano, Italy at the age of 60. Gerry was predeceased by his father, Pasquale in 2008. Gerry will be greatly missed by his mother, Rosa, sisters Incoronata (Cosimo) Zifarelli and Teresa; brothers Vince (Sherrie) and Tony (Cathy); companion Marianna Torchia; nephews Nicola (Jodi), Pasquale (Dawn), Roberto (Adrienne), Ryan, Felice and Anthony; nieces Rosanna Zifarelli and Chantel Wiebe; great-nephews Luca, Aidan, Alexander, Lev and Yuri; great-niece Livia. Gerry is also survived by many members of his extended family in Canada and abroad. Gerry was born in Muro Lucano, Italy on July 16, 1949 and moved with his parents, older sister and younger brothers to Canada in 1960. Following a lengthy working life, Gerry retired to devote time for his family and many friends. At the time of his passing, he was completing a two month vacation with his mother Rosa, travelling throughout Italy. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Pallbearers will be Nicola, Pasquale, Roberto and Rosanna Zifarelli, and Felice Mariani. A private family entombment will take place at the Chapel of the Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street Suite 200, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6.
