MARGARET LEPP (published on August 15, 2009)

MARGARET LEPP December 4, 1921 - August 7, 2009 Margaret Lepp (nee Retzlaff) was born to John and Maria Retzlaff on December 4, 1921, in Russkowoja, in the Caucasus region in Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1924, living in many places in Manitoba: Gnadenthal, Osterwick, Killarney, Fork River, and Winnipegosis. She met the love of her life, John Lepp, in Manitou, and they were married in Purves on November 10, 1940. They lived with John's parents the first winter, and then moved to the farm in Elm Creek in the spring. John and Margaret were baptized upon confession of their faith and joined the Elm Creek Mennonite Brethren Church in 1949. They retired from farming and moved to Carman in 1976, where they enjoyed friendships and fellowship in the Gospel Light Church, and later Friends Church. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, John, in 1998. She is survived by four children, Ed and Irene Lepp: Mark and Brenda, Robert and Kyla, Gerald and Corina; Bill and Florence Lepp: Steve and Tamara, Greg; Harry and Barb Lepp: Ian and Michelle, Blaine, Daniel; and Hilda and Arnold Wiebe: Carla, Coleen and Brad Unger, Sherri, Deanne, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by two brothers in infancy and by her brother John. She is survived by her sisters Mary Neufeld, Eva Esau, Kay Retzlaff, and Olga and Alex Papou; her brother Victor and Marge Retzlaff, and sister-in-law Marion Retzlaff. Margaret passed away peacefully on August 7 at 3:25 p.m. with her children and several grandchildren at her side. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a ray of sunshine and loved to laugh and have a good time. Words cannot express the gratitude to the staff at Boyne Towers and Boyne Lodge for the excellent care and concern for Mom's welfare while she was in their care.
