WILLEM (BILL) NOBEL (published on August 24, 2009)

WILLEM (BILL) NOBEL 1956 - 2009 Peacefully, on August 21, 2009, the Lord took to Himself our husband, father, and grandfather at the age of 53 after a brief battle with Leukemia. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Margaret, married for 28 years, along with their children, Sarah and Ian, Brant and Celia (Caleb, Adam), Teresa, and Calvin. He was predeceased by his daughters Danielle and Leanna, as well as his father Cornelis and mother-in-law Bieny Schoon. He will be sadly missed by his mother Tryntje, and his brothers, Henk and Annette, Jan and Karen, and his sister Helene and their families; as well as his father-in-law Pieter Schoon and his children, Ray and Jeanette, Sid and Brenda, John and Marg, Peter Schoon, Wendy Schoon, Bill and Elaine, Gerald and Janet, Peter and Christine, Mark and Carla, and Shaun and Debbie and their respective families. Bill was born April 25, 1956 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada with his family as a baby and grew up in southern Ontario. He completed his studies as an architectural technologist in 1979 and was offered a job in Manitoba in 1980. He married Margaret Schoon on June 12, 1981 and setup home in Winnipeg. They were blessed with six children born between 1983 and 1991. He started a business in the basement of his house in 1986 which has expanded into the present business now named Valley Fashions. Shortly after his daughter's wedding, Bill became ill with flu-like symptoms and pains in his legs. Testing concluded that this was the result of acute myeloid leukemia on June 27, 2009. Because of the many complications due to the illness, he could not receive the treatment needed to eradicate the leukemia. The family was blessed to still be able to spend time with him while he was in hospital before the Lord in his infinite wisdom took him home to Himself. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 25, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, at 10:00 a.m. in The Redeemer Canadian Reformed Church, 15 Bates Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Rev. J. Poppe officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and staff at Health Sciences Centre GD6 as well as the doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care. Also a thank you must be extended to all those who supported the family in a variety of ways throughout his stay in hospital. PSALM 91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.
