EDITH ELIZABETH BAKER (published on August 25, 2009)



EDITH ELIZABETH BAKER (nee BALDWIN) With her family at her bedside, Edith passed away peacefully in her 94th year, on a warm sunny afternoon, August 22nd 2009. Edith was predeceased by her husband Howard in 1974. She is survived by her daughters June (Tom Fraser) and Lynda (Chris Emery) and her only sister Winnie Bergner. She is also survived by her grandchildren Randy Fraser (Yvonne), Chris Emery, Tessa Emery and Georgia Emery, her great-grandchildren Jessica, Jenna, Kendall and Emma, one great-great grandchild Mackenzie, and many nephews and nieces. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she spent several memorable years in Eriksdale with her beloved Mother Kirkpatrick . In her teen years she joined her mother (Nanny) and sister to live and work in New York City at the famous Schrafts restaurant in the Chrysler building. When she returned to Winnipeg she met and married Howard and began raising a family. To the Staff at Heritage Lodge many thanks. A special thanks to her wonderful caregivers Sally, Cristie and Ramilette, who gave Edith many hours of entertainment and loving care. Yuppie, Yuppie And that's the way it is , Riding on the Bus , and let's not forget her Blue Suede Shoes . Edith was an avid racetrack pundit, spending many hours at Whittier Park, Polo Park and Assiniboine Downs choosing the right horse. She was an outstanding Baker , creating wonderful apple pies, chocolate chip cookies and Denver sandwiches but she will always be remembered for her creation of the original recipe for Clodhoppers Candy. We love you Mom, Mother, Edith, Edie, Gram, Granny, GiGi.....You Are The Best.
