STELLA STARKELL Stella Starkell, aged 90, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home. Remaining to forever cherish Stella's memory are: her daughter Audrey, grandson John and great-grandchildren John and Jesse, his wife Bonnie and her sons Andrew and Dylan; daughter Gail (Roy), grandson Shawn; daughter Arlene (Dan), grandson Ian, granddaughters Heather and Amanda (Eduardo), great-grandchildren Maya and Manu; son Robert (Yvette); and son Ken; two step-sisters Margret (Paul) and Helen and their families; sister-in-law Lil (Bill) Nolan and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Conrad (1986), sister Anne, brothers Bill and Mickey, and son-in-law John. Stella was a long time resident of Headingley, living in her own home until March 20 of this year. She was born in Hamilton, Ontario to parents John and Olana Galawan, and grew up in Brandon, Manitoba, and married Conrad in 1936. Stella was active in the Headingley United Church Women's Group and the choir, a 4-H Leader, in 5 pin league bowling, a wonderful cook, and a skilled seamstress. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunty who will be dearly missed. Stella's funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Headingley United Church, 110 Bridge Road, Headingley, MB with Rev. Bob Galston officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ken Starkell, Shawn Marten, John Teichroeb, Ian Gibson, Heather Gibson, Vincent Rimmer, and Andrew LeBrun Special thank you to the Star Buck Homecare attendants and all the staff at the Tuxedo Villa for their compassionate care and attention to all of Mom's needs, and to everyone who helped in every way to allow Mom to stay in her own home for so long. Donations may be made in remembrance of Stella to the Headingley United Church. Peace and much love to you, Mom.
