NORBERT CHATEAUNEUF (published on September 08, 2009)

NORBERT CHATEAUNEUF June 23, 1954 - September 3, 2009 With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Norbert Chateauneuf, a wonderful, caring man. Remaining to cherish his memory are: his loving spouse Janis, his sons, Michel (Francine), Robert (Tanya ), his mother, Aline Chateauneuf, his step-children, Melissa (Jason), Jason, his grandchildren, whom he adored, Alyssa, Danica, Mathieu, Jeremy, Mackenzie, Madisson and Katana. He is also survived by his brothers, Alain, Luc (David), his sisters, Diane (Paul), Lise (Arsène), Monique (Denis) and Françoise. He will also be fondly remembered and missed by his in-laws, Walter and Yvonne Bachart, Darrell (Jody), Rob (Jane), his nieces and nephews, many close friends and extended family. He was loved by so many. Norbert was born in Ontario, and grew up in Winnipeg. He attended Louis-Riel Collegiate. He was a truck driver, working for different companies, over the past 35 years. At the time of his passing, Norbert was driving for Arnold Brothers. Norbert loved life and made the most of each day by getting up really early. Norbert and Janis enjoyed vacationing in the Dominican Republic. He cherished spending time with family and friends. He especially loved spending time at their cottage at Booster Lake. Every time Norbert went to the cottage you would find him working on something. Just two weeks ago, Norbert was working on building an addition to their cottage. Norbert was a devoted companion and the most supporting father and grandpa. There is nothing he would not have done for his loved ones. Norbert worked hard throughout his life and he asked for little in return. Norbert had a friendly and unflappable personality, that made everyone want to be near him. At every family gathering everyone reveled in his wry wit and calming demeanor. A generous and loving person, Norbert was not afraid to share from the heart. The time he spent with family and friends meant the world to him. Norbert accepted things as they were and made the best of every situation. He never complained and always looked at the bright side of things. As Norbert's mom always said ce n'était pas un chialeux . The family will be eternally grateful to Dr. Wolnak and the team of doctors and nurses, of Mercy Regional Hospital in Janesville, WI, who did everything they could to mend Norbert's sick heart. Prayer's will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue, West at 7:00 p.m. Memorial service will follow on Friday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. also at Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent West, Transcona. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norbert's name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 There are no words to express the void that Norbert has left. We will miss him dearly. Funeral Arrangements In Care Of: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVENUE (AT BOND) 224-1525
