ILDEFONSO CRUZ SIGA (published on September 26, 2009)

ILDEFONSO CRUZ SIGA January 23, 1940 - September 22, 2009 It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our father, grandfather, uncle, and to most of us, our dear friend, Ildefonso Cruz Siga. Ildefonso was born to Pedro Siga and Eladia dela Cruz-Siga on the January 23, 1940 in Quisao, Pililla, Rizal, Philippines. In 1964, Ildefonso had met, courted, fell-in-love, and married his first love, Elisa Pendon. In 1975, Ildefonso and Elisa later migrated to Canada, along with their two children at the time, Imelda and Irving. Years later, three more children, Marivic, Jonathan, and Michael finally completed the Siga Family. Ildefonso worked at Versatile Tech where he was employed for 30 years, where he made and created long time friendships to remember. Ildefonso will be remembered by his humbleness, his acts of kindness, and a different kind of affection that he carried with him towards those around him. There was never a day where he wasn't happy and was so full of life; had something bothered him, he kept it to himself only for the sake of not wanting to worry those around him. Ildefonso was the most hospitable man one can ever imagine, that did everything not only for his family, but for his relatives, friends, acquaintances, and even to strangers in passing by; regardless of any tensions that surrounded him, he still completed his tasks for that day. Ildefonso had a love for nature; he enjoyed the outdoors, most especially when it came to his plants and flowers that he would garden every year in the summer; also to mention his love for animals, most especially his fishes and his children's dogs. Ildefonso also enjoyed travelling and would talk endlessly and photo share about trips they took annually to the U.S., B.C., and overseas to the Philippines. The best trait that Ildefonso carried throughout his life was the endless love he had for his family, including his grandchildren which he adored every moment spent with each of them. Ildefonso leaves to mourn his wife of many years, Elisa; their children, Imelda (Jessie) Gajes, Irving, Marivic (Joselito), Jonathan (Lidivette), Michael (Joanna); his grandchildren, Stephanie and Richard Gajes, Shay and Kalea Siga. Ildefonso also leaves to mourn his sister, who was very near and dear to him, Lucrecia Siga (of Vancouver, BC), sister-in-law Ester (Roger) Herrara; their children, Liza (Arnold), Dexter, and Anthony; his nephew Lambert (Kristina) Cruz, and the many nieces and nephews in the Vancouver, BC, U.S, and in the Philippines. To the Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiology Department at the St. Boniface Hospital, thank you for the endless care, support, and patience that was provided for our family during this difficult and challenging time. Lamay to be held Thursday, October 1 and Friday, October 2, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at Glen Lawn Funeral Home (455 Lagimodiere Blvd.) Burial Mass to be held Saturday, October 3, 2009 at St. Mary's Cathedral at 9:00 a.m. and interment and reception to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
