PAULA SOOKRAM (published on September 26, 2009)

PAULA SOOKRAM After a short courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Peacefully, on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Grace Hospital, Paula reached the pearly gates. Remaining to forever cherish Paula's memory are her children and their father, James Sookram; daughters Pat and Tara; sons Leechan (Cynthia), Bharat (Dorothy), and Rennie; grandchildren Zita, Angela, Ryan, Leanne, Melanie (John), Chad (Adrienne), Melissa (Ross), Candace (Mike); great-grandchildren Mariah, Mikayla, Tyra, Brianna, Dryden, Matthew, Jersey, Sienna and Angel her companion (cat). Paula was predeceased by her sons Ralph, Cocoal and son-in-law Clint McCracken. Paula was born and raised in Trinidad and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1970. She was a baker for many years at the Courts IGA. Paula attended church regularly, developed many friendships, and was loved by all. For those who wish, viewing will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue at Sharp Blvd. Paula's funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church, 205 Roseberry Street, with Pastor Arden Boville, presider. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. We would like to extend a special thank you to her dear friends and their families - John and Phyllis Taylor, Jack and Audrey Harrison as well as Pastor Arden Boville for their love and support. We would also like to thank the doctors and staff at the Grace Hospital for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9. Our mom was a living angel among us brought to this world to do good and share her love with everyone she met. We love you and will miss you.
