DEBBIE BARNES (published on September 26, 2009)

DEBBIE BARNES It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce that Debbie Barnes, devoted Mother, Grandmother, God-Mother, Niece, Sister, Aunt and Friend, aged 51 years, passed away September 21, 2009. Debbie is survived by her daughter Sherri (Cory) and son Cory, sisters, Patricia (Ron) and Bonnie, brother, Jim (Orysia), aunts Pearl and Eileen, grandchildren Tyler, Emily and Brayden, numerous nieces and nephews. Debbie was born in Winnipeg, growing up in Elmwood and East Kildonan, ultimately settling in East Kildonan to raise her family. Debbie loved the outdoors and spent countless hours nurturing her flowers and plants that surrounded her home. Debbie was truly in her element in nature and the summer months were her absolute favourite. We were truly blessed to have Debbie in our lives. She was considerate, compassionate, and a great listener. You could trust Debbie with anything. She had a great sense of humour, the most adorable laugh and a sweet mischievous side that would always catch you off-guard. Her friends and family could always count on her loyalty and kindness. You never had to ask Debbie to lend a hand or an ear, she just did. She led by example and held true to what was right and fair and her generosity had no limits. Her life experiences gave her a special strength and because of this, she was everyone's rock'. We all depended on her for a shoulder and sound advice. Debbie's life was devoted to her children, Sherri and Cory. Her children were her world and raising them was her greatest love. Debbie's home was filled with their many accomplishments, pictures and treasures. She was so very proud of you both. One of the most special things about Debbie was how she would celebrate special times with her family, whether it was birthdays, holidays or other events. Debbie loved to do them up in a big way, as only she could. She was also tremendously proud of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She took great interest in their activities and was always there to support them and provide unconditional love. Debbie could often be found calling Tyler to brag about how Ovechkin out did Crosby, She was a great customer for Emily as she spent hours styling her hair or making art, and Brady could often be found looking in Grandma's purse for all the goodies she stored in there for him. She will forever hold a footprint in her Grandchildren's hearts and future. Debbie, we miss you so much and this is still so unreal. Not once did you ever let us down. Your legacy will never be forgotten and will forever be apart of us. We are grateful for every moment we had with you and take comfort in the fact that the gardens of heaven are being cared for by the most beautiful and loving angel, our Debbie. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
