PEARL GRACE HORN (published on September 26, 2009)

PEARL GRACE HORN (nee DIPPLE) With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Pearl Horn on Monday, September 21, 2009 at Victoria General Hospital. Pearl was born October 31, 1919 at Bemidji, Minnesota. She was educated at Sanford and Wingham schools and graduated as a registered nurse from Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She nursed at several hospitals and particularly enjoyed caring for infants during her employment at the Women's Pavilion. In 1951, Pearl married Fred Horn and together they farmed in the Oak Bluff area. She was active in the community and was a member of the Oak Bluff Women's Institute. One of Pearl's favourite pastimes was to go camping and fishing with her husband, Fred. Pearl was predeceased by Fred (1995), her parents William and May Dipple, and her sister Alice (Frank) Sanburn. She is survived by her beloved brother Jim Dipple of Portage la Prairie, numerous nieces and nephews, and also extended family members. Memorial service will take place on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Manitoba Cancer Care, ON 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. A HEART OF GOLD A heart of gold stopped beating Working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Leaves and flowers may wither, The golden sun may set But the hearts that loved you dearly Are the ones that won't forget. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
