G. MAGNUS THOMPSON (published on September 26, 2009)

G. MAGNUS THOMPSON Magnus passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the age of 72. Magnus will be greatly missed by his wife of 49 years, Margaret-Rose; daughters, Brenda (Roy Gould), Lorna Brown (Jeff), Ingrid Pederson (Chris), and Thora Ransom (Dan); grandchildren, Suzana, Cassie, Archie, Patricia, Madeline and Sage; great-granddaughter Bethany; brother Peter (Jean); brother-in-law Stan; sister-in-law Lorraine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Magnus was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Gudrun; brothers Thor, Thomas and Rosevalt; sister Thorey Cherney; and sister-in-law Evelyn Medernach. Magnus poured his energy into his interests, was warm and generous to his friends, loved his family deeply and gave hugs often. Magnus was proud of his Icelandic heritage and proud to be Canadian. He stood up for what he believed in whether defending his work team, canvassing door-to-door for local charities, or as a candidate for the Canadian Action Party. Magnus was the original handyman, fixing cars, electrical equipment, household items, and all types of machinery. His interests included gardening and trees, carpentry, solar energy, roller blading, science and mathematics, politics and history. He was well read on a wide variety of subjects. Magnus lived his life to the fullest, right to the very end. Thank you to all who attended and assisted with the memorial service, and thanks to those who shared their memories of Magnus.
