WALTER BOHART (published on September 29, 2009)

WALTER BOHART January, 1918 September, 2009 Peacefully on September 23, 2009, Walter passed away at Maples Personal Care Home at 91 years of age. Walter was predeceased by his wife Mary, parents Nicholas and Pearl Bohach, and sisters Jenny, Marie, Helen and Stella. Walter will be greatly missed by his sons, Ronald (Karen) Bohart, and Darryl (Christine) Bohart. He will also be missed by his granddaughter Alyssa Bohart. Walter will also be missed by his close friends in the Weston area. Walter was born in the family home in Weston on January 30, 1918. He remained in the Pacific Avenue home until a stroke forced him into Maples Personal Care Home. He attended school at Cecil Rhodes and Daniel McIntyre where he enjoyed all sports. He especially liked playing baseball with his extended family in Hazelridge. He loved it there so much he once rode his bicycle there all the way from Weston. Walter also loved playing hockey and also coached the Weston Blackhawks girls' team for many years. Walter worked for Parkhill Bedding before spending the rest of his career at CPR in the Weston stores. He retired from CPR in 1982 and enjoyed a lengthy retirement with his wife Mary. They enjoyed bowling, bingo, and watching the Maroons and Kodiaks play many football games. They spent many times together at the Brooklands and Weston Legion where Walter was a long time honorary member. Walter also enjoyed gardening and tinkering. He was always looking for new uses for old things which always kept him busy. He was always quick to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Walter (and Mary) always enjoyed travelling west to visit Ron, Karen and Alyssa. When getting there became tough he always looked forward to the Westerlies coming home for a visit. We would like to extend our thanks to the nurses and staff of 2 West at Maples Personal Care Home for all of their caring provided to Walter during his year there. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. Viewing one half hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Walter's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
