ROBERT (KEITH) DENT (published on October 01, 2009)

ROBERT (KEITH) DENT October 27, 1926 - September 29, 2009 Keith died peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, just shy of his 83rd birthday at Oakview Place. Keith was predeceased by his life partner Inger Tingskou (2008) and his daughter Barbara (1990). He is survived by sons, Richard, and Robert (Alice) and daughter Deborah (Jeffrey) Jorgenson; stepsons, Tony (Marie) Tingskou and Paul (Kathy) Tingskou; as well as grandchildren, Kirsten (Mike), Andrew, Brent, Kevin and Cassandra, Amy, Randy, Richard, Daniel and Adam. Keith was born in Regina and raised in Winnipeg. He worked for Manitoba Pool Elevators and retired from Western Grain Elevator Association in 1988. He loved his retirement in Abbotsford BC, where he and Inger resided for 15 years. They enjoyed spending their winters in Mazatlan, Mexico. Keith was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous since January 20, 1973. Here he formed many lifelong friendships and fellowships. Living the program of the 12 Steps he was able to inspire and support countless others who were seeking serenity. His legacy is the inspiration he gave us and the changes he brought about in the lives of those who loved him. In spite of his fondness for attire, Keith wore jeans to his father's funeral because that is how his father always saw him and how he saw himself. Friends are invited to honour Keith by wearing their favourite clothes, casual or dress. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. Instead of sending flowers, Keith requested that you take a friend to lunch or dinner and tell him or her the things we often think of only after someone is gone. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
