WILLIAM (BILL) SKAKUM It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Bill Skakum on October 9, 2009 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 83 years. Left to mourn is his daughter Sandra (Brian), son Terry (Debbie), grandsons Daniel and Kyle, his sister Margaret and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2004. Bill proudly served in the navy during the Second World War. After his honorable discharge he spent time travelling in the United States and Mexico. On his return he found his calling as a butcher and storekeeper for the next 55 years. He operated several grocery stores in the North End and West Kildonan areas. Bill was a life long member of the Masons. A Gathering to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Friday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
