JENNIE ANNE COMSTOCK (published on October 14, 2009)



JENNIE ANNE COMSTOCK On Thursday, October 8, 2009 Jennie passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 102. Remaining to forever cherish Jennie's memory are her son Robert and daughter-in-law Caroline of Lethbridge, AB; daughter Shirley and son-in-law Gary Baldwin of Qualicum Beach, B.C.; son William and daughter-in-law Margot of Qualicum Beach, B.C.; daughter Dianne and son-in-law Vic Palles of Winnipeg, MB; sisters-in-law, Win and Isabel Parker of Saskatoon SK.; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert, her parents, stepfather, one sister, three brothers, daughter-in-law Marion, and grandson Christopher. Jennie was born in South Shields, Newcastle, England on October 31, 1906, first child of Margaret Maguire and Harold Wilson. She lived in Preston, Lancashire until 1919 when she moved to Canada with her mother and stepfather, John Parker, first to Winnipeg then to Saskatoon. Jennie worked in the printing trade where she met and married Robert Comstock on May 15, 1926. They resided in Saskatoon for many years where they raised their four children before moving to Winnipeg in 1957. Widowed in 1981, Jennie continued to live in her own apartment until she was 101. She enjoyed reading, her British soaps, Saskatchewan Rider games and most of all visiting with her many grand and great-grandchildren. A private family graveside service for Jennie will be held at the Brookside Cemetery. In memory of Jennie's great love of animals, donations may be made to an animal rescue or wildlife organization of your choice.
